A customer of mine is setting up an additional internet connection. That line (ADSL-3Mb/768kb) will only be used by a few people but it's some type of a firewall. I can get a PIX501E for under $400 bucks. A 506E is alsmot $900. Is it really worth the extra $500 for what I'm doing? Their main firewall is a 515E with 3FE ports. Ideally, I'd want the DSL line to be a backup route to the internet without having them spend too much $$$. What are my options?
Actually you are correct. The PIX Security appliance Version 7.0 software runs on the PIX 515/515E, PIX 525, and PIX 535 platforms. PIX Security appliance Version 7.0 is not currently supported on PIX 501 or PIX 506/506E hardware.
