515 & 515E failover

Hi,

I have read it at a few places. I understand that 515 and 515E will not be able to do failover. My situation is a customer is already using 515. He don't want to buy to buy two 515E.

This other person, a Cisco-certified instructor, claimed that he has tested successfully 515 and 515E failover, provided 515E will have its VPN accelerator card taken out, and both firewalls use v6.1.4 software. It was being used throughout his class, where my customer is one of his student.

Can anybody verify this as I do not hv the equipment to test. Any way that this method works. Any unforeseen problem?

Re: 515 & 515E failover

I haven't tested it, but as this person mentioned, it might work when the VPN accelerator card is removed, BUT it is not a supported function and Cisco will not support it.

Following URL clearly states that a PIX 515E cannot be used with a PIX 515 for failover;
