520 adn 520 failover with different flash and ram

A customer of mine has an old 520 pix with 2Mb flash memory and 32 Mb Ram. Now he wants to make failover with a new 520 pix firewall, but new pix firewalls have 16 Mb flash memory and 128 Mb Ram. I could upgrade old pix's flash and ram memory, otherwise could i have failover problems with 5.1 ios version that can be used with 2 and 16 Mb of flash memory?

Thank you

Re: 520 adn 520 failover with different flash and ram

In order for failover to work properly both PIX’s must be identical. I usually upgrade the old box when I do a failover install to be sure the equipment is exactly the same. I’d also suggest calling TAC. They can tell you if the PIX’s are the same internally. I’m a little puzzled whether they will work in failover if you upgrade the memory. If you get an answer on that one, please post it on the board.
