a set of access-list statements

For a set of access-list statements such as

access-list id_x permit ...

access-list id_x permit ...

access-list id_x permit ...

This id_x, sometimes, it must be the same name; while others, it can be different names.

Under what circumstances or for what usage, it must kept the same for a set of access-list statements?

Thanks to help

Re: a set of access-list statements

Hi Scott,

You can apply one access-list to a certain interface at a time.. this requires the set of access list rules you want to apply to that particular interface to have the same name. For example to apply access-list id_x to the outside interface, you need to enter the following command:

access-group id_x in interface outside

but you cant for example apply id_y to the outside interface at the same time.

Haitham
