Access-group gets kicked out when I remove an access-list entry

Hi,

I noticed that on a pix running code 6.2(2) when i edited the access-list the access-group was removed from the interface. Although I had noticed it previously on 6.0 version I though the problem was fixed. Has anyone come across the same problem and if yes is there a bug ID associated with it.

Hi Mohammed,

If you have:

access-list 100 permit icmp any any

access-group 100 in interface outside

And then if you remove the access-list 100, say:

no access-list 100 permit icmp any any

Then your access-group associated with access-list 100 will also go away since there is not even one single access-list 100 statement. This is the default behaviour of the Pix.

If the above is not the issue in your case, can you explain in detail the steps that you following in editing the access-lists.
