access-list id_name

To use a number in replace of the id_name in the statement of:

access-list id_name permit ...

Where, the id_name could be a number such as

id_name = 1 to 99

or

id_name = 101 up

for instance: access-list 101 permit ...

My question: Is there any restriction to use the number as id_name? such as for certain cases, a number under 100 must be used; while for others, a number above 100 must be used?

Thanks to help.

Re: access-list id_name

1 - 99, 1300 - 1999 = standard acl

101 to 199, 2000 to 2699 = extended acl

the main difference between the two is that standard acl only examines the source address; whereas extended acl examines the source/destination address as well as the protocol and port number.
