Accessing my Pix-501

Newbie alert!! well regarding Cisco at least.

Got a new pix, logged into in via startup.htm, browsed through the wizard and now I can't log onto my Pix via the startup.html page due to no password. I don't recall changing the password.

When I connect the blue cable to my serial port how do I access my pix via CLI? I am not, yet, familiar with CLI and my telnet is weak also.

From a command prompt in Windows 2000, how would I connect to my pix to reset my password or better yet reset factory default so I can "try again"

Thanks

Ken

Pix default passwords are cisco, pix or just blank. Try this first.

For initial configuration you will need to console to the pix. On a Windows 2K, you can use start>Programs>Accessories>Communications>Hyperterminal.

Port settings is 9600,8,None,1.

Procedure is provided in the ff link: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/vpndevc/ps2030/products_password_recovery09186a008009478b.shtml

CCO login is needed.
