Also, you may have a name resolution issue if you don't have a dns server on the fa0/1 interface that can resolve host names, or your clients don't have the proper hosts file entries. Your access-list would block all DNS queries from that interface to, say, your serial (internet?) interface.
You want to put the an extended ACL closest to the traffic you want to filter. If you want to filter traffic coming into your network, then you want you ACL on the Serial Interface. If that is the case, your original ACL should be okay to allow that traffic into your network, you just need to remove that access-group statemant from your FE interface and move it to your Serial interface.
