Active/Standby over 2 Datacenters

I've 2 datacenters, I want to put an ASA at each, in Active/Standby configuration.

I'll need to link the VLANs across the 2 sites to enable this to work.

I've been told that this is poor design, can anyone clarify this as I can not see any other method of doing this.

For info. I'll have the same Internet subnet at both sites to the same ISP, the inter-site links are 2 x 1Gbs fibre between 6500s

I would only have one 6500 at each site and switch off spanning tree

any help appreciated

Regards Tony

what you need to consider is the link the state link and the failover link.

I have one with mpls carrying the link ( riding on static route) but will preffer a bridge if possibel.

Make the switch port connected to the lan failover and state link port fast, turn off bpdu and have a good feed.

Better to use physical interfaces

Good suggestions there, many thanks, I'll certainly build that into the design
