ahout tunnel route

www.cisco.com/warp/public/707/ipsec_gre.shtml

Please see the page above first.

This is a example on cisco web page.I donnot know why

router light cannot learn the route to 172.16.2.0 through

its ethernet0/0.Is the IPSec that make this happen? And if

i donnot configure IPSec ,just tunnel, what will happen?Should

router light learn the route to 172.16.2.0 through its ethernet0/0?

Re: ahout tunnel route

The router will not learn this route through the E0/0 interface because when the EIGRP routing information hits this interface it will be encapsulated in GRE (either with or without IPSec). The packets are first decapsulated when it hits the tunnel0 interface, this will also be visible when you issue a show ip route, it will state that 172.16.2.0 will be reachable via tunnel0.
