alternative solution at GRE Tunnel

I have a 2611 and a GSR 12016.Between these two devices there is a public network.The 2611 must reach the GSR with one hop bypassing the public network.So I configured a Tunnel GRE between 2611 and GSR because I cannot acces to the public network devices. But GSR doesn't support the Tunnel GRE.What alternative solution can I try without change these devices?

Why dont you run BGP between the two routers. This

will give you one hop access to the GSR , although your traffic still

flow through the public network which is the case to for the tunnel you wanted to use anyway.
