ASA 5505 and dual ISP config

Hi,

Has anyone tried configuring ASA 5505 for two ISPs for redundancy? Any issues that came up? Did the fail-over work?

Thank you.

Regards,

Alex

Re: ASA 5505 and dual ISP config

Hi,

You shouldn't use ASA for this since it cannot run eBGP and cannot know when one internet line is unavailable (unless physically down). As well, you will not be able to keep your own addressing, and changing the ISP will change your Public IPS (not good if you have servers).

What ASA can provide: static routes with different priority and different NAT for each link, detect the physical failure on one link and through static priority redirect to the other link (and go on the Internet with the other's ISP public IPs).

Please rate if this helped.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi

On a related topic, is it possible for the ASA to have 2 ISP connections and to route web traffic to one ISP and, say, SMTP and DNS traffic to the other?
