ASA and wan links

We currently have 2 offices located in different states. We have a point 2 point conencting them and each location has its own cable modem internet connection.

I want to make it where if one cable modem connection goes down to have it auto roll to the other side.

the routers connecting them are two 1841. I beleive if i add a weighted default router on each to point to the ASA on the other side. Then enable routing between the ASA will accomplish this. But to get it to work, I think we still need to turn off the ASA.

is there something in the ASA that I can turn on which will ping out to the internet and when it sees it cannot connect to route the traffic back inside?

Re: ASA and wan links

I'm not 100% about configuring this on an ASA, however I have set up IPSLA on various routers, that ping out and determine which (weighted) route to use.

Please see the links below...
