ASA: Format Command

I have a corrupt file system on disk0: since I did an erase command (I had to reload the .bin file to get back into the cisco# prompt) but now that it is loaded I cant access disk0: it says its Invalid.... I tried a fsck command to repair the file system and it said that i need to format disk0: I know that the format command is not one to be used lightly so I thought I should post here first before I messed anything else up

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Once you disk0 inaccessible/invalid, you need to format it. Use 'fsck' to fix it before formatting it. FORMAT command will reset the file system control structures. This will 'refresh' your flash before you can use it.

Thanks as always AK.... much appreciated... I ran the format command and it worked great.... actually allowed me to add my new Activation Key after the format was complete

Cheers,

Chris
