ASA or PIX firewall (Transparent Mode)

My Customer has an existing firewall, but they want an extra layer of defence. They have specified The Cisco PIX/ASA. I note that v7.x supports transparent firewalling and this would solve some of the issues we have. I'm guessing that I can't use this in a Failover pair, but haven't been able to find any information on this. Has anyone got experience of setting up PIX/ASA in transparent mode where a redundant firewall is required?

Thanks

Re: ASA or PIX firewall (Transparent Mode)

Hi,

You can use transparent firewalling in a failover pair - see the ASA configuration guide for details, in the "configuring failover" section. (We have this config running here without problems.)

HTH

Andrew.
