ASA SSM Anti-x & IPS confusion

hi,

I'm a bit confused about the SSM's on the ASA:

I know that the SSM-AIP provides IPS/IDS and that the SSM-CSC provides Anti-X.

So does this mean that because you can only have one SSM, you therefore can only have IPS or Anti-X on a single ASA platform?

Another reason i'm confused is that the SSM-CSC is not on the global pricelist anymore - has the fuctionality been added to the SSM-AIP?

Yes you are right. You can only have either AIP-SSM or CSC-SSM but not both.

Below are the features of CSC SSM. These features correspond to four differnt traffic types which are HTTP, FTP, SMTP and POP3. (ie, CSC scans only these four traffic types)

Anti-virus

Anti-spyware

File blocking

Anti-spam

Anti-phishing

URL filtering

URL blocking

Content filtering

I am not sure if all of these features are available in AIP-SSM.

Zhuhair
