Hey all, any idea what the maximum number of VPN clients can connect to the ASA5505? It is running the base image. Thanks, robert.
Licensed features for this platform:
Maximum Physical Interfaces : 8
VLANs : 3, DMZ Restricted
Inside Hosts : Unlimited
Failover : Disabled
VPN-DES : Enabled
VPN-3DES-AES : Enabled
VPN Peers : 10
WebVPN Peers : 2
Dual ISPs : Disabled
VLAN Trunk Ports : 0
This platform has a Base license.

Yes apparently your understanding is correct. If you have a box running you could lab this up and see what happens after the 11'th simulatenous client tried to connect. Most probably the client wil see an error message.

so, vpn "peers" and vpn "clients" are synonymous? if a small business with 25 employees has an asa5505, then no more than 10 employees can connect with the base license?

Just to make sure, we can have unlimited user/pass accounts but only 10 can connect simultaneously?

Yes Robert, this limit does not apply to usernames (either local or on a AAA server).
