I have setup a site-to-site vpn using cisco1721<->pix515e. Both the sites have static ip addresses and are connected to the Internet using DSL. The VPN tunnel works fine when we don't experience problem with the DSL network. I'm looking for way to set up a backup link so that when the tunnel goes down due to problem with DSL network, the branch office can still access resources at the head office using backup link. Has anyone successfully setup an ISDN DDR backup for VPN? I've found some doco on Cisco Tech Support site about setting up ISDN DDR as backup link for Frame-Relay but nothing about backup link for VPN. Any suggestions/hints are very much appreciated.
It is possible to back up the tunnel interface using ISDN. Put the backup command in the tunnel int and you can use a floating static route to back up the primary. Don't forget to apply the crypto map to the bri and dialer interfaces as well.
