Where does a beginner go to learn more about CSPM and all the components of it?I'm not a network expert, but I have a CCNA, and it seems that IDS is a completely specialized feild. By reading some of the threads here I see there are many people here that have a great grasp of CSPM/IDS. Could you just point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Re: beginner

Places to go:

Buy the Cisco IDS Book, it provides a fairly detailed explanation of IDS in general and Cisco IDS specifically. It is fairly thick, but the first few chapters would be a good place to start.{CE013989-A0AD-43CE-A420-DCC78A953843}&st={394362F5-FC0C-402E-AA2B-8F0502FFE844}&product_id={06A94F7A-644F-491A-89BA-F09403E7D084}

Look at the product pages:

Look at the documentation:

This forum is a great place to ask specific questions from other users.

The Cisco Secure Encyclopedia of Vulnerbailities and IDS signatures is also a good place to start familiarizing yourself with what the IDS systems look for.

The different vulnerabilities will have links to external government and private sites.

Once the Encyclopedia has you linked you to these other sites take sometime to look over the other sites. They will generally provide some non product specific IDS information.

Re: beginner

I have found quite a bit of information by reading the technical documents on line as well as participating in the e-learning courses.
