Build your own Syslog Daemon ???

I was wondering if I could find somewhere the specifications for reading syslog messages from my Router and Pix on the host side (win2000 server).

I am just looking to build an agent that will toss the messages into an ODBC database without the overhead of all kinds of extra functionality and Copyrights.

Re: Build your own Syslog Daemon ???

If you havent found the information in the meantime-a year ago I wrote a quick and dirty VisualBasic program that logs to a file and/or ODBC under Win2k.

If that's of interest for you, drop me a line and I'll forward you the source.

Re: Build your own Syslog Daemon ???

Thanks friend, I found out that the messages goto UDP port 514, so I wrote a service to do the job.
