Can FWSM 's interface IP address be set as gateway to route traffic to MSFC

When I deploy the MSFC on the inside of FWSM,I can't ping the PC(192.168.100.100) on another MSFC subnet from inside subnet as I set the source pc's gateway with FWSM inside IP address(192.168.101.254). If the source pc's gateway is set with MSFC's inside IP address(192.168.101.253), it will be OK.

I wonder why.

(I have configured the " icmp permit any inside " and " access-list 100 permit ip any any ; access-group 100 in interface inside")
