can only ping part of network segment through IPSec tunnel

I can successfully open an IPSec tunnel to the VPNC 3000. However, I can only ping boxes that are connected to the same switch as the VPNC.

layout :

internet router -> hub -> VPNC -> hub -> 4506 switch A -- fiber run --> 3550-48 x 2

Everthing internal, including the private interface on the VPNC, is on the same segment and subnet (172.27.x.x 255.255.0.0.)

The hubs are in place to allow a sniffer connection, we have tested w/o the hubs with the same result.

Does anyone have an idea?

Do you talking about creating an IPSec tunnel with VPN Client or LAN-to-LAN connection ? If it is a VPN Client , does your pool IP address assigned to the client is the same network segment with your VPN Concentrator ?
