CANNOT make VPN Client 3.5.2 work after Re-install

I had the VPN client working perfectly and had been using it for a long time, Then I then installed a larger hard drive, and it hasn't worked since. The O/S is Win98 second edition. I've removed and reinstalled the 3000 client several times, and deleted all the Cisco registry keys as well, to no avail.

Everytime I start VPN, I get the message " The necessary IPSec service could not be started. You will not be able to make a connection to the remote IPSec server"

I'm using the file "vclient3000-win-2.5-3des.exe" for the setup, which is 2946k.

If I try to create a new connection, it won't save the data either.

I've run out of ideas, and most of my patience..<sigh>

Thanks for any and all suggestions :)

Not sure which exact version you have but a 3.5.2 zip version you can download from CCO is about 4mb.

If your concentrator is running code 3.X or higher, you might want to download a fresh copy of the client from CCO.
