Catalyst 3750 shutdown port when NAT router connected

I have a Catalyst 3750 switch with port-security and bpduguard enabled on all access ports. The bpduguard works perfectly to shutdown ports when switches using STP are connected. The port-security works perfectly to shutdown ports when switches that don't use STP are connected. I am now trying to get the same behavior from the switch ports when a SOHO NAT router is connected, examples being Linksys or DLink access points. Any ideas?

Here are the settings on the interface:

switchport mode access

switchport port-security

switchport port-security aging time 2

switchport port-security aging type inactivity

spanning-tree portfast

spanning-tree bpduguard enable
