Re: Catalyst FWSM

The FWSM is based (includes entire PIX 6.0 software feature set and some of the features of PIX 6.2) on Cisco PIX technology and runs a "a secure, hardened real-time operating system". It can support up to 100 vlans and runs at 5Gbps performance. The commands are mostly the same, some have been dropped, some changed, some added. As for NAT, it can always be disabled between interfaces.

See link for details: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps2706/ps4452/index.html

This link is how to install & configure it: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_installation_and_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800e445e.html

Hope it helps
