change of MTU size on Interface using the VPN client

we are using a LINUX PC which communicates through a non-permanent ISDN connection and VPN Client 3.5.2. Additionally it uses NETBEUI on the local Ethernet interface. Each time the VPN tunnel is established, the MTU size on the Ethernet is changed, too which affects the local NETBEUI communication. The Ethernet interface should not participate on the VPN communication.

Any other solution than changing the mtu.h file and reducing the MTU size per default on the interface?

Re: change of MTU size on Interface using the VPN client

I don't know on Linux for sure but on my PC I put in two NICs and reduced the MTU on the NIC doing VPN and not the other. I iwonder if you could do something similar in Linux.

the MTU size is changed on all interfaces, so on a second NIC it would be changed, too.

I found where the size of the reduction is defined (file mtu.h) and defined it as 0, then I changed the MTU size on each interface.
