How can I change "enable", "telnet", and other admin passwords for PIX 515 without locking myself out. Thanks

Hi,
Here is your answer :
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/iaabu/pix/pix_61/cmd_ref/mr.htm#xtocid7
Also, for enable p/word (in config mode):
pix(config)#enable secret xxxxxx
Note: xxxxx = your chosen password.
Remember to write to memory after change i.e. pix#wr m
Hope this helps -

question regarding the word "secret", is this something different than "password"?
I was looking at cisco doc somewhere for Enable, and it said
pixfirewall> enable
password:
pixfirewall# enable password xxxxxxxx
pixfirewall# configure terminal
pixfirewall (config)# write terminal
what is the difference between your statement with "secret" versus above with "password"?

enable password means that when you will see the pix configuration, you will see the password you have set. with the enable secret command, the real password is encrypted so you will not see the real password when you see the configuration of the pic- it's more secure.....

Hi,
As Lee's post states, enable secret is more secure + encrypted - I should have explained this on my post - sorry !!
Hope it helped....
