Cisco 1605R, firewall or not firewall????????

Hi, at the moment I have a Cisco 1605R ios v12.0.4 without firewall. So I have to use access list. What difference would it make if I use an IOS with the firewall option??? What can a ios with firewall do that the access list can't do???

What is the difference between an ios with firewall and a normal access list.

Can a cisco router authenticate username and password wan connections instead of permitting ip address????

Firewall featureset blows the socks off simple access lists. VPNs, intrusion detection, etc. Check into it here:
