Cisco 1751 and PPTP

Hello,

I have a Cisco 1751 Router. I setup a Linux firewall running PPTP VPN. If I change my IP address on my network from a private IP to a Public IP I can connect to the VPN and ping the network, if I try to do this from a remote location I can connect but I cannot ping anything besides myself and the server. Someone mentioned it may be because a Cisco 1751 router does not support GRE on port 47. Is this true? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Re: Cisco 1751 and PPTP

It sounds like maybe your firewall is translating addresses many hosts to one host. IP protocol 47 (GRE) cannot be port translated.
