Cisco Concentrator Console Access Cable Spec

Hi,

I have got a 3005 here and am trying to access it, it has to be initially configured with an ip address etc via the console port, however the console is a Serial DB9 connection.

I cant find much info on the documentation with regard to the cable to be used, other than RS-232 straight through - fair enough, however the port on the device is a Male DB9, and since the serial port on computers is generally Male DB9, this must mean that I require a DB9F-DB9F RS-232 straight through cable! - Correct?

I thought a null modem cable (DB9F-DB9F) would work but it does not.

Can anyone clear this up for me, and tell me what type of cable I need to get hold of.

Rgds,

LR

Re: Cisco Concentrator Console Access Cable Spec

Have just answered my own question!

I used 2 x DB9-RJ45 connectors and a straight through cable and this works fine.

Cheers
