I think one of the biggest advantages to the PIX over any software based Firewall/VPN product is the reliability. I configure it and forget it. Were also connecting to mostly Cisco equipment for the VPN end-points (external vendors). The ones that are not Cisco are more difficult to support and occupy most of my time. The Symantec products rate right up there with PIX for features/functionality but its real-life us admins have to deal with.
