Cisco Secure IDS 4235 - supported NICs

Does anybody know how many Network Interface Cards are supported by the Network Sensor (Appliance) 4235? Which types?

Thanx ;)

Re: Cisco Secure IDS 4235 - supported NICs

Officially the IDS-4235 just supports the 2 onboard NICs. One for Command and Control, and the other for Sniffing.

Both ports are 10/100/1000 (Gig) Copper ports.

Even though the sniffing interface is a Gig interface, the software on this hardware setup will only support monitoring of up to 200Mbps depending on you traffic.

Unofficially the SX port that can be ordered for the IDS-4250 can also work in the IDS-4235.

It can be used inplace of the 10/100/1000 Copper sniffing port.

The SX port is a Gig Fiber Interface.

Once again the 200Mbps limit would still apply.

NOTE: The sensor software can only sniff off of one interface at a time. So if you start using the SX interface for sniffing the software will stop monitoring the copper interface.
