cisco software client/3000 concentrator

I have two consultants working in an office with a linksys dsl router. Both are connecting back to a 3000 concentrator from laptops with the cisco vpn client loaded. Today both logged on at the same time and are getting peer connection error #427. is this because the concentrator seeing two connections from the same external IP? Is there a work-around?

Thanks!

Re: cisco software client/3000 concentrator

Hi,

You will need to use either TCP or UDP encapsulation rather than pure IPSec.

By enabling encapsulation it allows multiple computers to share the same IP address for the VPN connection. The router/firewall uses NAT so that all traffic from both computers appears to be coming from the same source IP address. Encapsulation forces the VPN to use not only the source IP address but also source port when identifying VPN connections.

to configure nat traversal, go configuration > tunneling and security > ipsec > nat transparency, select the option "ipsec over nat-t"
