Cisco Systems VPN Client v3.5.2

Following installation on a Win2000 machine, the message

System Error: Unable to retrieve connection status

is observed upon machine boot or running the VPN client dialer. I believe this is related to the VPN client system tray icon being unable to start.

The client then runs after you acknowledge the error until you try the connect button

System Error: Unable to initiate connection.

I believe the client is properly configured and I have tried to re-install without success.

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Cisco Systems VPN Client v3.5.2

This is usually caused by other software on that machine, usually firewall software. If you have any personal firewall apps, remove that, then reinstall the VPN client and see if that works. Make sure ICS is turned off also.

Basically something is interfering with the VPN client, so you need to get rid of that.
