Clientless SSL VPN slow

Hi all,

My office internet is 2MB downstream and is 512kb upstream.

Clientless SSL VPN User at 1 time can have 10 user login but they complain that it is slow.

Is it due the Cisco device can't handle the load or due to the broadband ?

Re: Clientless SSL VPN slow

What model do you have, the smallest ASA (the 5505) can support:-

Maximum firewall and IPS throughput (Mbps) 150 Mbp

Packets per second (64 byte) 85,000

Maximum 3DES/AES VPN throughput 100 Mbps

So the issue will probably be with your bandwidth.

Re: Clientless SSL VPN slow

We are using ASA 5510.

Re: Clientless SSL VPN slow

OK - so the 5510 supports:-

Firewall Throughput - Up to 300 Mbps

VPN Throughput - Up to 170 Mbps

So I would look at the BW, and the applicactions they are accessing via SSL.

There is also a possibility that it could be the users connection from the remote locations.

Re: Clientless SSL VPN slow

You should use the reporting features of your 5510 to take a look at the traffic. It is certainly not the device slowing that connection down. Sounds like you've got xDSL and it is running at a really slow rate. Check out the traffic to see what your users are doing. Streaming video, P2P, gaming or large downloads can eat up bandwidth pretty quickly. You either have to restrict access to applications or upgrade your broadband connection.

Which reporting feature, can you guide ?

Yes, our is ADSL 2M/512kb upstream.

No Streaming video, P2P, gaming is allow in our premise, it is mainly for office purpose.
