Comcast metro e and ASA 5512-x configuration

I am trying to get the basic configuration set up for my new ASA 5512-x

I have the Comcast fiber --> copper fed from the ciena switch port 1 into the ASA Eth(0)

I have a laptop plugged into Mgmt Port

I have a laptop with DHCP plugged into Eth(1)

I set up the following config in ASDM

Eth(0) Outside

  • IP Address: Comcast Layer 3 IP: 50.BBB.BBB.BBB
  • Subnet Mask: Comcast Layer 3 Subnet Mask: 255.CCC.CCC.CCC
  • Security: 0

Eth(1) Inside

  • IP Address: 192.168.100.1
  • Mask: 255.255.255.0
  • Security: 0

Static Route

  • Interface: Outside
  • Network: any4
  • IP Address: 0.0.0.0
  • Net Mask: 0.0.0.0
  • Gateway IP: Comcast Gateway: 50.AAA.AAA.AAA

Is this all I need for a beginning basic internet connection to the laptop in Eth(1)

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

-Mike

You will want to set your inside security level to 100 and your outside to 0.

Hi

  IP Information:
– /30 between Comcast end and the customers layer 3 device and a  /27   ( 30 Usable IP's )

P2P                      /30= 50.iii.x.yy
Subnet                      = 255.255.255.252
Comcast SUR            = 50.iii.x.aa     gateway
MyCompany IP link         =  50.iii.x.ab     to customer provided router

                             /27= 50.jjj.cc.d
Subnet                      = 255.255.255.224
Thirty usable IPs starting with  50.jjj.cc.1, 2, 3 …

will you say that your  50.BBB.BBB.BBB = 50.jjj.cc.1            (I chose that)

and 50.AAA.AAA.AAA = 50.iii.x.aa

Please let me know.

Christian
