Can anyone offer any assistance as to how to get out of the following mess?
First of all some background:
We remotely manage a PIX525 (IOS ver 6.3(3) and PDM 3.0(4)) and we usually use the PDM to make day-to-day changes, as the junior staff are more comfortable using a GUI, rather than CLI.
This morning I was required to add a large list of hosts. Being competent with the CLI and not looking forward to adding them via the GUI, I decided to script the CLI commands.
Unfortunately I got distracted whilst I was cutting and pasting the host information in to my CLI script and copied the wrong information in to the <subnet mask> field when I was creating the 'PDM Location' CLI command. I didn't notice this until it was too late and had paste the command to the firewall!
I just tried the "clear pdm location" command and that didn't work, but thanks for the suggestion.
Interesting to see that the problem couldn't be replicated in 6.3(5). I wonder what would happen if I was to upgrade from version 6.3(3) to 6.3(5)? Would the config be parsed ok and just ignore the commands with the erroneous subnet mask?
It looks like I may have unfortunately found a bug with 6.3(3).
