command to assign myself new ip addresss

I am trying to use this program: to share some files. The problem is that I am behind a router that assigns my IP address on the LAN, so my files can be seen on the intranet, and not the internet.

Anyone know how I can statically assign myself a new IP address so I can be seen by the internet and still be seen by my intranet?

Re: command to assign myself new ip addresss

Hi Mninikhaya,

Which program are you referring to? Is the address your PC is allocated, a private IP address or a public? If private, then there needs to be a Network Address Translation that needs to be done on the router.

If you can elaborate a bit more on the topology and the problem, it will help us help you.

Thanks,

yatin
