configuring firewall on an 1801

I'm setting up an 1801 for DSL internet access. The 1801 supports a firewall (which I have no experience with). The docs. talk about CABC allowing any inside user to initiate a session to the outside and temporary ACLs are created to allow outside responses to those sessions back through the firewall to the originating user. This is what I want to do but my first question is.....is this the default?.....ie...do I have to configure anything for this to happen?

Also, I'm using port address translation and will want to be able to telnet, HTTPS etc. to particular inside devices from the outside. This works well using the command

ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.2 443 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 443 extendable

for HTTPS access.

My second question is...will I continue to use these commands to allow this type of access or must I use CABC to achieve this?

......hope this makes sense....thanks in advance......Jamie

You should find everything about the 1800 series router here, inc CBAC etc...
