Re: Copying IOS and PDM from Pix to TFTP Server

You can copy the running configuration to a TFTP server by issuing the write net command. If the TFTP server is 10.0.0.10 and I wanted to name the backup pix_bak, I would use the following command to backup the configuration.

(config)write net 10.0.0.1:pix.bak

I hope this helps,

You can't copy the OS from the PIX to a tftp server--only the other way around. Perhaps there's a hack to get around it, but they purposefully decided not to allow the OS to be copied off.

Assuming you have a pc attached with a tftp server program running, I have tried several and they don't all work the same. Normally od this, start youor pc, connected to an interface on same subnet. Some TFTP programs have permissions settings. Once you enter copy tftp running-config

it should ask ip address of host (pc address)

file name (file namae on pc to stor)

sometimes you have to start several times.

I have been using tftpd.exe which is avail on the net with prett good results.
