The rule of thumb is for 500 agents or less you use the MSDE (Microsoft Database Engine) that is included with the CSA MC software. This means you have a database on the same server as the CSA MC. If you feel that the 2GB size of this database is going to be inadequate then you must install and purchase a Microsoft SQL server. Remember that these two servers must be reachable via DNS resolution so that the necessary communication and SSL certificates can function.
