CSA 5.1 with network shield

Folks,

I have enabled the network shield on my CSA agent, but i can still ping the host. When i look at the rules closely i see that ICMP is being monitored and for information icmp messages only the shield would block??

I am confussed, what is the purpose of network shield if i can do a ddos attack on the machine??

Re: CSA 5.1 with network shield

There are several Network Shield rules and several rule modules. Whether they block ping (and from where)depends on which one(s) you are using.

Parwal, have you considered asking for help from Cisco or the reseller you purchased CSA from (unless you are the reseller)?

Cisco can provide excellent product and implementation support and it sounds as though you could use some of their expertise in setting up this deployment.

Better to get someone in that will help you and the client understand the product then make them hate CSA because it bugs them all day.

Who will support the product after the deployment?

JMTC...and good luck

Tom S
