CSA email alerts

Last Saturday, I received tons of frivilious csa alerts.  Upon closer examination, I discovered that they were from previous alerts. I checked the console/event log in CSA MC and everything appeared normal (no logs).  Rebooting the server didn't help.  I had to stopped the alert email notification.  When I came back into the office on Monday, I started the email alert service in MC, and the email alerts stopped coming to my inbox.  I've never seen this before.  Any comments/assistance rendered is deeply appreciated.
