i know according to cisco any modified policy of CSA is not supported, but then it says they also support Insight mgr on their HP servers (7825's). However we can't get Insight to run properly unless we disable the headless version of CSA on the servers. Has any one here came across this? if so, how did you solve this quagmire?

Headless (stand-alone) CSA only supports the call manager so it will not support other applications installed on the call manager that are non-default.
If you want to support non-default applications, you need to be able to customize CSA, and that requires the CSA management center.
Check your CSA Agent version, recommended version is 2.0.5.

Which part of Insight Manager agent won't run? My experience with the agents for servers is they install way more than is needed and can be trimmed down a bit with some research.
If you have a console monitoring the server agents, what you need to run is pretty minimal.
