CW2000 on Win2k Adv Srvr - OS Security Patches

After applying four M$ security patches to our CiscoWorks VMS server (2.2 / 1.2.3), some of the Java applets would hang and never open (TAC TT# F283271). I was wondering if anyone has had problems with any of these individually, or in combination: 828028, 832483, 832894, and MDAC 2.8. Any input would be of great help!

Thanks,

Don

As far as my knowledge goes, you need to apply Microsoft Security patch for this to work.

I am not sure about your findings however this is my two cents. A short while back I had some issues with java apps hanging the machine. I logged a call with Cisco and the problem appeared to be timeout issues between the CW application and the database. If you haven’t already applied the patch idsmdc1.2.3-win-CSCsa122414.tar, then maybe it would be worth a trying:

It fixes:

* CSCsa08592 ("Possible database connection corruption")

When getting a database connection, there are times when the closing of one connection could incorrectly close an open and in use connection. This could cause application freeze or database freeze.

Thanks for the posts... Here was the issue:

Microsoft Security Patch #828028 (MS Bulletin MS04-007) breaks the Apache Web Server. This is apparently a known issue with TAC.

Thanks,

Don
