debug problem

Hi all,

I have a PIX 506E that I cannot access from the console port. From my terminal session to the PIX, I cannot see the output of my debuf crypto isakmp and ipsec commands. Even when i type terminal monitor I still cannot see the output. What am I missing to view the output of the debug commands.

Re: debug problem

Hi,

are you sure that the ike/esp packets arrive at the pix?

Maybe you could capture the packets that are arriving at the outside interface. Use this command to do this:

'capture test interface outside'

Once the capture command has been entered, you can look at the captured packets with you web browser:

https:///capture/test

To make this work you need to enable the http server on the pix and allow you pc to access the pix using http:

http server enable

http 255.255.255.255 inside

You are prompted with for a username/password. You may leave the username blank and use the enable password as the password.

There is also an other way to make logging work. You could use a syslog server (free syslog server at http://www.kiwisyslog.com) to collect the log messages.

Install the syslog server on your pc and enter these command on the pix to enable syslogging:

logging host inside

logging trap debug

logging on

Kind Regards,

Tom
