DHCP reservation on pix 6.3 (4)

Is there a way to configure DHCP reservation on a Pix501?

I know Pix can act as a DHCP server, but I can't seem to find anything on reservation...I need certain client PCs to have particular IPs so that I can exclude those from deny ACLs.

Hello CSCO10662744,

Unfortunately this is not possible on the PIX Firewall; it cannot associate an ip address

to a specific MAC address.

The workaround would be to assign static ip addresses to specific computers and then

create an addresss pool that doesn?t include those.

Example:

Server1 = 192.168.1.2

Server2 = 192.168.1.8

Server3 = 192.168.1.10

ip address inside 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0

dhcpd address 192.168.1.11-192.168.1.254 inside

dhcpd enable inside

Another work-around is to use MS DHCP server (which supports reservations).

Hope this helps! If so, please rate.

Thanks
