Hi,
Can the PIX support a configuration where PC clients are on the inside and the DHCP server is on the outside ? The DHCP server would need to hand out public IP's to clients on the inside, the PIX would NOT be running NAT. Is this possible ?
Thanks
Kent

I doubt it. The PIX does not support broadcast or multicast across its interfaces. There is no configuration for a helper address on the PIX so it could not even forward the request to the server. Why not use the DHCP server on the PIX to server addresses to the clients?

Thanks for your feedback. Our IP managment is done centrally so this would be less conveinent for administration, also I'm not sure the DHCP server on the PIX can assign IP's based on the clients MAC address. I've haven't looked into this real far yet, so if I'm wrong please correct me.
