Can you tell me what the difference between the IDSM1 and IDSM2 are? There is a significant price difference. We will be purchasing about 12 of these, for all the 6509's.

Here is a good link. It's all part of IDS 4.0. The IDSM2 handles about 5x the amount of data and also has a CLI interface. Watch out, maintenance is seperate for each blade on the IDSM2, the IDSM1 is covered under the chassis.

The most obvious is that IDSM1 is obsolete. My greatest disappointment is that it could not issue TCP resets.

Here is a great link.

The IDSM2 is fabric enabled, supports 600 Mbps of perf. and is at full feature/functionality parity with the IDS applaince line. The IDSM2 lists for $29,995.

The IDSM1 has been EOSd. It supports 100 Mbps of perf. It is not fabric enabled. It does not support features such as IP Session Logging, TCP resets, IDM/IEV, customization of signatures, etc.
