DMZ VS INTERNAL

What would be the advantages of creating a DMZ vs keeping all public servers on the inside of the firewall.

Re: DMZ VS INTERNAL

In my humble opinion, keeping all public access servers behind the PIX is what it's designed for.

simple as that

My view is that if the servers in dmz were hacked, hackers couldn't access your intranet directly yet. But if the servers in the inside... Is that so? 8-)

Re: DMZ VS INTERNAL

My thoughts exactly, But Client's cuurent www server setup sre inside and would like to keep it that way. I would rathe set up dmz and create rules for communications btwn outside and dmz(WWW), then btwm DMZ and inside(APPS).

what do you think?

Re: DMZ VS INTERNAL

Having your public accessible servers on the inside net is not a good idea. That's why the Pix has the ability to have multiple interfaces.

Create your DMZ on an another interface and your problem is solved.
